Why is all the time a good time to train your dog? How is that possible?
All too often we get hung up on training sessions with our dogs. Certainly, it's beneficial to set aside training time to get a good amount of repetition in, but it's also very important that we are consistent with our dogs training throughout the entire day. Taking time to reinforce the skills you've taught in your training sessions by applying them to your real world will benefit you and your dog greatly.
Think about where you might need the skills you're teaching and apply your training to that scenario. Here are a few examples:
- Practice your recall when your dog is out in the yard
- Practice polite greeting behaviour when your dog is greeting your guests
- Practice loose leash walking on your daily walks
If you make training part of your daily life, it'll become habit for both you and your dog.
Here are some great details on when the best time to train your dog is.
Happy Training!
